Fertility Massage
Submitted by Jenifer on January 18, 2013
Fertility massage is a form of therapy that has been used for centuries to aid women in their efforts to conceive. There are several different types of massages and they can be used in conjunction with conventional forms of fertility treatments such as hormone therapy and IVF. Using a fertility massage in the run up to IVF implantation can increase your chances of getting pregnant. These techniques work by increasing the flow of blood to the reproductive organs, removing blockages from the reproductive pathways and by stimulating the glands that secrete fertility hormones.

Types of Fertility Massage
There are several types of fertility massages used nowadays.
They can be used either singly or in combination with each other to increase your chances of conception. However, these massages should only be administered by a qualified therapist who has mastered the different techniques. Six of the most popular techniques for increasing fertility include:
Chi Nei Tsang (CNT)– Also known as reproductive organ massage (ROM), this form of Eastern medicine is usually performed by a certified therapist, acupuncturist or acupressure therapist. The goal of the therapist is to induce calmness and help the client to relax while simultaneously cleansing and balancing the client’s body. The technique involves the massage of the internal organs such as the spleen, stomach, liver, heart and kidneys as well as a woman’s reproductive organs including the ovaries, uterus and uterine tubes. The massage helps to restore the flow of blood and helps the body recover from the deleterious effects of stress and tension. This helps restore the vitality of the reproductive organs and increases the chances of conception. CNT can be used in conjunction with other therapies such as acupuncture, herbal treatments and dietary changes. Practitioners of this therapy claim to have opened up blocked tubes and cleared endometriosis clots from the body, two of the major causes of infertility.
Deep Tissue Massage - This form of massage therapy has been used by therapists to clear pelvic adhesions that tend to affect the functioning of the fallopian tubes, one of the leading causes of infertility in women. These adhesions are usually the result of pelvic scarring that occurs after infections and surgeries. This technique is also known as the Wurn Technique and named after its founders. Another form of deep tissue massage is known as the Maya abdominal massage and has been used by native healers in Central America for centuries. Both these methods can be used to treat reproductive disorders and may safely be combined with other massage techniques.
Myofascial Release– This form of massage therapy involves massaging the connective tissues between muscles as well as the internal organs including the reproductive organs. Myofascial release therapy has been used by therapists to treat a fertility issues as well as a number of other disorders such as chronic back pain, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis.
Acupressure– Acupressure massage therapy is based on the principles of acupuncture, the ancient Chinese system of healing. Acupuncturists theorize that there is a life force or energy known as “qi” that flows through our bodies along pathways known as meridians. The meridians correspond to different organs within the body and any disruption of the flow of “qi” through these meridians affects the respective organs and causes sickness. An acupressure therapist applies pressure using fingers at various points along the meridians to remove blockages within the meridians and restore the flow of energy, helping to bring balance back to the affected organs. The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture has listed a wide range of disorders for which acupuncture can be safely used as a form of alternate therapy. Apart from infertility and problems associated with menstruation, the list includes conditions as diverse as post-surgical pain management and alcohol and drug abuse.
Reflexology– This form of massage therapy that originated in ancient Egypt uses pressure applied to specific points on the feet and hands to stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanism. It has been used by practitioners to treat a range of disorders including hormonal imbalances and infertility and can be combined safely with other techniques to increase your chances of conception.
