Brown discharge during pregnancy first trimester
A brown discharge during pregnancy first trimester is usually a sign of implantation bleeding. It occurs when the fertilized egg attaches itself to the walls of the uterus, causing the uterine lining to shed. If you notice a brown discharge in the later stages of the first trimester, it probably means that your body is getting rid of the old blood that is no longer required.
In some instances, brown discharge could also indicate an ectopic or a molar pregnancy, which should be removed as soon as possible.
Yellow discharge during pregnancy first trimester
A yellow discharge during pregnancy first trimester could mean that you are suffering from an infection. Some of the conditions that could cause your body to give out a yellow discharge include:
- Bacterial vaginosis
- Trichomoniasis
- Candidiasis
- Cervical polyps
- Chlamydia
If the discharge is due to an infection, it usually emits a strong, foul odor. Most of these infections can be treated. If left unchecked, they could lead to a miscarriage
Pink discharge during pregnancy first trimester
A light pink discharge during pregnancy first trimester may have nothing to do with the pregnancy directly. It is usually a symptom of:
- Vaginal infections
- Inflamed cervix
- Sexually transmitted disease
If the discharge is dark pink, or reddish, it could be a lot more serious and may also be an indication of a miscarriage.
Mucus discharge during pregnancy first trimester
In the earlier stages of pregnancy, there is an increase in the cervical mucus and therefore, you may notice a mucus discharge during this phase. In such instances, the discharge is usually white, sticky, odorless and elastic in nature. In case the mucus has traces of blood in it, you need to let your doctor know about it immediately.
It is always best for you to inform your doctor, in case you notice any mucus discharge during pregnancy first trimester. If the discharge is accompanied by symptoms like cramps or pain, you need to go for a checkup as soon as possible. Though discharge does not always mean miscarriage, it could be indicative of an infection or other problems, which need to be treated as soon as possible.
