Due to the hormonal changes, the muscles of the intestinal tract tend to relax, which slows down the digestion process. After that, the bacteria that live in the intestines participate in the fermentation process, thereby producing excessive gas in the stomach. Some of the causes of indigestion during pregnancy second trimester and third trimester could include consuming foods that are hard to digest, like fried food, large meals, garlic, onions, whole dairy, caffeine, and so on.

  • Including higher amounts of food that are high in fiber, in a daily diet
  • Eating smaller meals at frequent intervals through the day, with a gap of no more than three hours between each
  • Sitting up for at least 1 or 2 hours, after each meal,
  • Chewing on some ginger candy
  • Drinking a lot of water throughout the day
